This morning whilst out in the garden 5 screaming swifts flew past at a time when I knew one was on the bedroom nest. That makes 6 which is great news. The chimney camera I will leave as I expect they will be sitting on eggs so will not disturb them.

Dry and sometimes sunny morning. Both swifts out feeding. This afternoon very heavy rain and both of them in the nest preening themselves and each other. Longer clip from the bedroom nest with a better view of them both.

Two newly reunited swifts in the bedroom nest.

I noticed this morning that there are now 2 swifts in the bedroom nest. This is the 8th year that I have been filming them in this nest. The same pair have been to Southern Africa and back, found our house and the very small entrance to our eves for the last 8 years. They have produced at least 2 fledglings each year so I expect them to do so this year. It’s been cold and very wet all day so they have stayed in snuggled up together. Short video not showing them too clearly.

Not an easy year. Software for the bedroom nest not working so using a legacy app that doesn’t work too well. The chimney nest camera has fallen due to stones moving in the attic. It’s very hard to access and I need a hand will have another go to move it. Yesterday morning saw first swift in bedroom nest. Can’t honestly say when it arrived but it fits in with first sittings on the internet.

Bedroom nest first arrival.
