Very hot sunny day today. Saw 6 swifts screaming round the house while one on each nest so 8 in total. Got 2 clips showing 2 eggs on bedroom nest and 3 in chimney nest. One expects 2 and occasionally 3 eggs per nest.

Another lovely day. Very little obvious swift activity today. Very busy again but even out in the garden and didn’t hear much screaming. One swift sitting on the eggs with occasional shift changes. Managed to get a photo of the two eggs in the bedroom nest. Away now for a couple of days so will not be blogging.

Another busy day. Had to move our caravan and My daughter came for the day to meet the puppy. Didn’t see any swifts flying and there was one swift on the eggs in both nests all day. No clips today as nothing new to report. It will be very different when they hatch.

Bust day with grand children but before they arrived counted 9 swifts screaming round the house while one was on each of my nests so that’s 11 in total. Most of the morning groups were screaming round the house. A busy swift day. More good news. Can now see 2 eggs on each nest. Only managed a photo of the eggs in the chimney nest. All have now returned to their nests so will try to get a picture of the bedroom nest eggs.

Picked up new puppy this morning so have had a very busy day. A lot of time in the garden and saw or heard no swifts. They were all out all day which has been warm and sunny. Still just one egg in each nest so little new swift news. No clips today. This years blog May be a bit sparse due to puppy duties but will do my best.

Early report today but have good news. Rained most of the morning but when the bedroom nest swifts left there was one egg on the nest. Also about 1pm a couple of swifts were flying up to the eves and explored at least 3 possible sites with at least 1 of them entering the attic space. I had to laugh as twice they flew out hotly pursued by a sparrow. There are many sparrow nests in the attic. For a short time the sparrows were as fast as the swifts. I am hopeful we may have another potential nest. At the end of last year a pair of swifts were trying the same area but didn’t manage to get in but it was too late for them to be a breeding pair. I can’t see into the chimney nest for eggs but I think there maybe eggs as one swift is on the nest a lot of the time. Short clip showing the egg.

Just seen first egg in chimney nest. Photo of the evidence.

Wonderful start to yet another hot sunny day. About 9am I counted 7 swifts screaming round the house. It didn’t last for long but 4,3 or2 about for most of the day. Two were very persistent round the side of the house where the bedroom nest is. Last year I saw a couple trying time after time to get into a gap in the eves. Will try and see if we have another nest. It’s a difficult area to access but will go up later with a torch. No clips as nothing new to show. Saving video space for chicks hopefully in a couple of weeks. 7screaming is great for this time of year.
