Cooler day today. Had between 10 and 15 swifts screaming round the house then circling up high. They were so fast I counted up to 10 but know I missed some. The chicks are growing well and exploring their nest site. Especially the bedroom nest chicks in the first video clip.

Not quite so hot today. This morning had 9 swifts screaming round the house. Lovely to see. The chicks seem more comfortable today. Even cooler tomorrow with fain forecast for the weekend. A clip from each nest.

The two chicks and an adult around the chimney nest. Can’t tell which is which.

Forgot to say a young adult flew into our conservatory yesterday. Was very agitated but easily flew from my hand when released.

Very hot day again today. Uncomfortably hot for me and the nests are roasting under the roof. Lovely to see all four chicks are doing very well. At times hard to separate them from the adults. Short clip from the chimney nest showing the chicks looking out. Two clips from the bedroom nest showing all four family members and the chicks this evening.

Have been busy today with friends and grandchildren dropping in. I have only seen the single chick in the bedroom nest but just now 10pm looked at cameras and found 4 swifts in the bedroom nest. I have no idea what happened. Very relieved now. Clip showing the four in the bedroom nest.

Very sad day today. The hottest day of the year so far. In between jobs and watching the open golf kept an eye on the cameras. In the bedroom nest took clips at 12.30 of them being fed and one of the 2 chicks at 2.30. At about 5pm could only see one of them. They can wander out of the cameras field of view so wasn’t top worried. Still only one at 7pm so I went up into the very hot eves with a torch. No sign of the chick. It’s not that accessible but 30 mins gave no signs of a live chick.

Checked outside in case it fell out but no luck. So sad!

First really hot day of this summer. Yesterday was also good but not as hot as today. I mention this as at about 9.40pm just as we got back was entertained by 7 swifts flying up to the eves and one entering a new site and several clinging onto the wall just below the eves. The four chicks have been suffering from the heat, mouths open panting most of the day. They also have moved around getting nearer the fresh air. A clip from each nest.

At last a hot sunny day. Up to 6 swifts racing low round the house. The chicks are exploring their nest sites more than before. I am away for a couple of days. So no blog til Friday. Couple of clips from the bedroom nest.

Slightly better day today. Only heavy rain this afternoon. The chicks are growing fast and interacting with each other. Some screaming round the house but only saw 4 at any one time. Three clips tonight showing the chicks preening each other and the arrival of a parent in the bedroom nest.

Very wet start to the day then it brightened up late morning. At lunch time I had 6 screaming round the house. The chicks are growing fast. A clip of the bedroom nest showing one chick exploring. It’s the first time I have seen any of them leave the nest. What you can see is an old sheet blocking a gap where a couple of years ago lost a chick as the gap is inaccessible. Then later caught the chimney nest chicks being fed.
