Saturday 23rd July 2022

At this time of year it becomes more and more difficult to work out what is happening in the nests. Today found it very hard to persuade myself that all three swift chicks remain in their respective nests. I kept looking all day today and only saw 2 chicks in the bedroom nest and only one in the chimney nest. It is about time for them to fledge so one from each nest might have gone. I am just not sure.

Much more comfortable temperatures today. Sorry for missing yesterday. Got tied up in the evening. Little changes in both nests. The chicks are nearly fully grown now and just waiting for the last couple of weeks before fledging. Two clips showing the three chicks in each nest.

Another hot day. Amber warning for heat today and for tomorrow a red warning for London and central England. 2 clips one showing a bedroom nest chick on walk about and one showing the 3 in the chimney nest.

Another hot day today. No fly by’s today that I saw but was out for most of the morning. Three clips today. Two from the chimney nest one showing all three in or around the nest one one showing one of the chicks stretching it’s wings. The one from the bedroom nest just shows the three chicks.

Hotter today and the heat is building over the next 4 or 5 days. I think that here in Torbay we are somewhat protected and won’t be as hot as most of the country. Lots of activity outside up to 7 swifts screaming round the house. Three clips. One from the chimney nest showing all three chicks. Two from the bedroom nest. One showing the whole family and one showing the active chick stretching his wings and disturbing a years worth of cobwebs.
