Another cool day. I was out for much of today but in between trips caught 2 videos. The first is on the chimney nest with an adult arriving clearly showing 3 chicks. The second showing the 3 in the bedroom nest. All 6 chicks are growing very well.

Tuesday 28th June 2022

It’s been cold today. I even dug out my winter vest. Adults away for long periods trying to collect food for the chicks. I spent some time looking carefully at the two cameras. I am now sure there are 3 chicks in each nest. Very good news. Swifts only ever have 1 2 or 3 chicks. Never more. I am afraid I didn’t get the 3 chicks in the chimney nest. Often the app closes when I am recording from that nest. Also it’s so hard to pick the right time. Nice clip from the bedroom nest showing clearly the 3 chicks.

One chick wing flapping a bit early but good view of all 3.

Monday 27th June 2022

Cooler cloudy day today. The bedroom nest chicks have stayed in the nest and snuggled up together. I think I have a clip showing the chick wings in the chimney nest. I think these chicks are a little older than the bedroom chicks. Time will tell.

Two chicks in the chimney nest. Just see 2 sets of wings.

Sunday 26th June 2022

Cooler and windy today. Some sun and a good day for swifts. The three chicks in the bedroom nest are staying in the nest. One longer clip today showing all three chicks in the bedroom nest one of them flapping it’s wings. They do this but usually just before they fledge.

Three chicks and one adult in the bedroom nest.

Thursday 23rd June 2022

Not as hot today and overcast most of the day. Twice I had to venture into the attic space to rescue swift chicks that had gone for a walk. One of them I only found as I was leaving the attic as it was stuck totally in the wrong space.

Two chicks on walk about
The adults ignore the chicks out of the nest area. It is dark in the nest area.
Another walk about
After 2 rescues all 3 chicks in the nest being fed.
Just able to see 2 chicks in the chimney nest. Not a great view.

Wednesday 22nd June 2022

The hottest day so far this year. Adults away most of the day. One of the chicks went walk about this afternoon. I had to go up into the attic and put it back into the nest twice. It’s eyes have not opened yet and it seemed not to be able to find or get into the nest. A clip from later this evening showing all three chicks in the nest.

Both adults and all three chicks safely in the bedroom nest.
