Sunday 4th July 2021

Very wet day today with spells of very heavy rain. watching the cameras more today. Only positively identified two chicks in each nest. The chimney nest camera is not accessible and the focus is poor but I suspect with the recent weather that the small chick in that nest may not have survived. A clip from the bedroom nest with a returning adult being bombarded on return.

Adult returning to the bedroom nest.

Was out this morning but it rained quite hard so doubt I missed much. Late last night took 2 clips from the chimney nest. It’s hard to see but two larger chicks are nearest the camera with the much smaller on in the back. Very much smaller.

Friday 2nd June 2021

As very late back last night a very busy day mainly in garden and puppy minding. I had a bit more time to check the cameras. This morning 6 swifts screaming low around the house. They acted like bangers. One or two year olds investigating possible nest sites for upcoming years. I am now sure that there are 3 chicks in the chimney nest but one is much smaller than the other two. It may be okay if there is plenty of food but the weather forecast isn’t too promising. A clip of each nest.

With no warning I had to spend 4 days in Cheltenham caring for and home teaching our grandchild in Cheltenham isolating due to COVID in his year group at school. He is 6 so it was hard work. On return I am now sure that we have 2 chicks in each nest and how they have grown in those 4 days. It’s late and only just back so a short clip from each nest
