Cold with sun and rain today. Still frost at night. Still just the single swift who left at 10am only returning at 7.30pm. From news around the net still early days with few swifts back yet. Still wondering about the nest. Short clip of this.

Another cold day. A little rain this afternoon. Our single swift left at 10am returning at 6pm in time for the news. No other sightings. Now snuggled up in the nest.

The first wet day for weeks. Still the single swift who stayed home til the rain eased off at mid day. Returned at 18.00. More nest repairing this evening.

Our first arrival flew off about 10.30 this morning returning at 19.30. Most of the early evening a sparrow was in the nest site but left 20 minutes before the swift returned. Still just the single swift.

The first returnee left about 10am then returned mid afternoon. It’s sunny but cold so probably was over water where more flies are found. No others back today. Clip showing it thinking about nesting.

Our first swift arrived after its very long journey this evening. I am still astounded by the fact that yet again after 4 weeks travel it arrived one day earlier than last year. It is behaving as normal spending a lot of time preening, easier to do on the nest. Occasionally looking out probably for its mate. So lovely to have at least one back. For ease of description as I have 3 cameras this nest I call the bedroom nest as it is directly above my bedroom. Short clip showing its first day home.
