Tuesday 9th June 2020

Mostly overcast today, a brief short shower and better evening. Not much change in the nests. The chicks are visually growing. In the bedroom nest one clearly bigger and one much smaller. It’s not easy to see the chicks in the chimney nest as most of the time they are behind the stone. Two clips from the bedroom nest tonight. First showing 3 chicks, the second showing feeding time.

Sunday 7th June 2020

An interesting day. Yesterday was cold and windy. Today a little less windy, cold morning but warmed up with some sun this afternoon. Several times today both adults from both nests have been out at the same time. I think they were struggling to get enough food for the chicks. The attic space is quite warm so I think the adults felt getting food was most important. Three clips today. First clearly shows 3 chicks in the bedroom nest. Next feeding time in the bedroom nest and last showing 2 chicks in chimney nest.

Good news today. I was watching nest cams just after 1pm when both swifts left the chimney nest and saw some movement. The camera is not as well focussed as the other one but I am sure I saw at least 2 chicks moving about. You have to look carefully but I am sure there are 2. No views of bedroom nest chicks today.

Thursday 4th June

Had I not caught the clip I showed yesterday I would have no idea the a chick had hatched. I did get another clip yesterday showing the same chick. I am not sure but may have seen evidence of a chick in the other nest but didn’t catch it on film. The second clip from yesterday.

Tuesday 2nd June 2020

Very little to add. Outside most of this very hot sunny day. Hardly heard or seen any swifts. The cameras still showing exactly the same so will leave the clips for today. The next few days could see them hatching. A shame as the weather is turning cold overcast and maybe the first rain for 6 weeks. Will not be great weather for feeding chicks.

Monday 1st June 2020

We were away from home most of yesterday. Sorry for missed blog. I have been in the garden most of today and only occasionally heard swifts flying by. Have been in the garden this evening looking out for them. Briefly saw a group of 6 but they were a long way off from another colony I think. Probably the hottest day of the year here today. 2 clips from bedroom nest one showing the 3 eggs the next a very hot swift. The third clip showing view of chimney nest that is the same all day except for shift changes.
